Green Club aims to bring together people who care about nature, sustainability, and environmental protection, whether you are a Tallinn University student, faculty member, or alumnus, or even a student from another higher education institution. You are welcome to join!
Let’s achieve great things together, step by step and in rhythm with nature!
We aim to create an environment where everyone at the university feels good, both physically and mentally, and we believe this can be achieved through sustainable practices. Through our activities, we strive to bring nature closer to those who have not yet discovered a deep appreciation for it, while also providing opportunities for those who otherwise lack the means to experience it.
We hope to foster greater awareness and care for nature and the environment within the university community and, ultimately, in Estonian society at large. We aim to achieve this by offering something for everyone, maintaining a balance between scientific and spiritual approaches.
A new board is selected every year in November and takes office in February.
Let's get to know each other!
Club's Chairwoman
What activity helps you relax the most?
Engaging in any kind of art or craft. When life gets too stressful, I take a few hours to tinker away on my own, and process my emotions if needed, so I can move forward with a calmer mind.
What is one small eco-friendly habit you would recommend to everyone?
Always opt for reusing! Make gifts for your loved ones using items you already have at home, patch holes in your clothes with a fun piece of fabric, and if your wardrobe still feels a bit dull, organize a clothes swap with friends (it’s a win-win!).
Marketing & Communications Manager
What skill are you most proud of?
I feel that one of my strengths is the ability to dive wholeheartedly into any endeavor and always give it my all. In the Green Club’s activities, too, I approach every project detail with precision and an open mind. I hope this dedication is reflected in the results of my work.
What kind of change do you hope to see through the Green Club's activities?
When I joined the Green Club, my goal was to steer our university and its students toward a more sustainable lifestyle and to encourage them to rediscover their connection with nature. I hope my involvement in the Green Club inspires others to ask questions about environmental issues and join the conversation.
Logistics Manager
What small joy do you look for in each day?
I look for and find, in almost every day, even the tiniest joys, but my absolute favorites are the moments when I can bring a little joy to someone else's day. Whether it’s a nice comment, a good joke, or simply providing pleasant company, sparking a gleam in someone else's eyes is always a small joy in my own day.
What kind of change do you hope to see through the Green Club's activities?
I hope that, thanks to our efforts, more people will realize that Green Club members aren't just "crazy tree-huggers," but the very people responsible for things like the recycling bins at school or the functioning swap cabinet in the student kitchen. I hope that, over time, an increasing number of people will notice the extent to which the Green Club's activities around the school affect them, both directly and indirectly.
Finance Manager
What activity helps you relax the most?
I relax best when I can go hiking and then hit the sauna. Being out in nature helps me clear my head, while the sauna relaxes both body and mind.
What kind of change do you hope to see through the Green Club’s activities?
I would like to see everyone take at least a moment out of their day to consider the consequences of their actions and the impact they have on the environment that connects us all.
Project Manager
What is one thing that truly inspires you?
Helping those who cannot help themselves. Standing up for their rights and their future!
What is one small eco-friendly habit you would recommend to everyone?
Find a nature-related activity, whether it’s swimming in the sea, listening to birdsong, or painting the sunset. Take that moment to make time stand still, just you and nature. You’ll start noticing so much more, and you’ll also give your mind a break from all the constant noise.
Event Manager
What is one thing that truly inspires you?
Experiencing new situations inspires me. I like pushing myself out of my comfort zone because every new experience shatters a preconceived notion. I want to gain an ever-deeper understanding of the world around me.
What kind of change do you hope to see through the Green Club’s activities?
I want to see more people feeling like a part of nature, rather than separate from or superior to it. It is precisely that perceived separation that makes it so easy to harm nature. I want to see this understanding and balance take root in more and more people. We do not destroy what we love or what is a part of ourselves.
Advisor & Club Founder
What skill are you most proud of?
There isn't really anything to boast about, but I like that I know how to be in silence. To simply... be.
A green habit you would recommend to everyone?
Pick up litter, help a snail across the road, and give honey water to tired bees in the summer, even when no one sees your heroic deed.
