Too often, we speak of humans, animals, and nature in general as if they were fundamental opposites, when in reality, we too are animals; we rely on the same resources that nature provides. We make decisions with regard only to our own – often very short-term – well-being.
But what if we were to look at things differently? From someone else’s perspective.

Overshoot Day marks the date when humanity's or a nation's demand for ecological resources and services in a given year exceeds the capacity to regenerate them within that same year. Earth Overshoot Day is announced annually on June 5th, World Environment Day. Last year, it fell on July 24th.
Overshoot Day arrives earlier each year. This is not sustainable. At current consumption levels, we are living as if we had multiple Earths from which to draw resources.
